Itinerary

Day 1, 2: Etosha National Park

Before departing from the Chameleon Backpackers Lodge in Windhoek, we shall have a short talk and introductions after breakfast. After the journey begins, our first stop will be at Otjiwarongo, where we shall gather some supplies before proceeding to Etosha National Park. A light lunch shall be prepared along the way. Upon arrival at Etosha, we shall enjoy an afternoon game drive, focusing on the constituent waterholes where animal numbers are concentrated. So many species can be found at the park, such as zebra, giraffe, elephant, rhino, and antelope. Before sunset, we shall set up camp, pitching the tents whilst cooking supper (prepared by the guide).

On the following morning, we shall have our first game drive at sunrise. Actually, this is the perfect time to catch the predators since they are nocturnal and are still active. As for breakfast, we shall enjoy this at one of the picnic spots (fenced) within the park. Shortly after, we shall proceed to the Etosha Pan. Here, we shall have the opportunity to stretch our legs and awe in the magnificence of its vast expanse. Afterward, we shall head over to Halali (central camp) where we can enjoy a dip in the pool. The next stop will be Moringa waterhole, where we shall enjoy some lunch. After such an adventurous day we shall return to camp, enjoying the scenery in our last Etosha game drive. At the camp, we shall have dinner.

Day 3, 4: Swakopmund

Immediately after breakfast, we shall depart Etosha by 0700 hrs. The route chosen will take us through Damaraland, one of the highlights of this safari. As we make our way through we shall have the chance to interact with the Herero, Himba, and Damara people, together with having a light lunch. Along the way, we shall stop by the Skeleton Coast, to explore the remains of a small shipwreck. By late afternoon, we shall have arrived in Swakopmund, just in time to explore the quaint seaside town on foot. At the camp, we shall enjoy the local Namibian delicacies at Hafeni’s Traditional Restaurant. Overnight accommodation is in twin share rooms with en-suite bathroom.

On the fourth day, we shall enjoy the optional activities that the Skeleton Coast has to offer. These activities include sky-diving over the desert, kayaking, a dolphin cruise in Walvis Bay or a stroll through town. Whichever you choose, the town has a lot to offer. Overnight in twin share rooms with en-suite bathroom with lunch and dinner at your own expense today.

Day 5, 6: Sesriem, Namib Desert

After a leisurely breakfast, we shall depart Swakopmund at 1000 hrs. We shall make our way south to the port town of Walvis Bay and have an opportunity to watch the flamingoes. Later on, our journey will take us through the Namib desert via the Kuiseb Pass and Solitaire, arriving at the camp in the late afternoon. This will allow us enough time to set up the tents and enjoy the sunset. Pool and bar available. Dinner will be prepared by our guide.

Another early start will see us drive down to the ancient river bed that is surrounded by towering dunes, making our first stop at the famous Dune 45. On the descent, we shall enjoy some breakfast, before continuing on to the Sossusvlei area to appreciate the beauty of the place in the early morning light and the peace and tranquility of the region. Afterward, we shall explore the area on foot before heading into Dead Vlei with its large expanse of bleached cracked clay and skeletal camel thorn trees, contrasting with a backdrop of huge dunes with their ever-changing colors. We shall, later on, return to Sesriem for lunch and a swim, visiting the nearby Sesriem Canyon in the late afternoon, one of the few permanent water sources in the area. Overnight camping, with dinner prepared by our guide.

Day 7: Windhoek

With the Namibia Camping Safari concluding, we shall have a late breakfast, checking out of the camp by 0900 hrs. We shall travel to Windhoek, around the Naukluft Mountains, arriving at the destination at around 1400 hrs.
