Namibia Road Safari (15 Days) Overview

The Namibia Road Safari (15 Days) is a Safari Drive favorite. The route allows you to visit many of the famous Namibia tourist attractions. Such attractions include Etosha National Park, the mysterious Skeleton Coast, beautiful Damaraland and the eye-catching dunes of Sossusvlei. All these whilst staying in an excellent selection of campsites and lodges. For those that have never visited the country, this safari acts as a wonderful entry point.

Itinerary

Day 1: Windhoek

Upon arrival in Windhoek, a Fat Rhino Travel representative will direct you to the Olive Grove Guesthouse. The establishment offers a lovely and comfortable space. Later on in the afternoon, you shall be taken to our base and briefed.

Day 2: Omboroko

As morning dawns, you shall enjoy breakfast, then our representative in Namibia will take you through a driver safety course. Afterward, you shall be shown the best place to stock up on food supplies before embarking on your journey to the Okonjima Reserve, home to the AfriCat Foundation.

Day 3: Etosha National Park

On this day, you will drive north to the Onguma Reserve which is on the edge of Etosha National Park. While here, you shall stay at one of the campsites, either the Leadwood or Tamboti campsites. Either one of them is great and provides you with your own site, with a private ablution block. As a camper, you are also able to use the lodge’s facilities for meals.

Day 4: Etosha National Park

Spend the day within the confines of the park, enjoy games drives and later in the evening make your way to the overnight stay.

Day 5: Etosha National Park

On the fifth day, enjoy the drive to the next campsite, located on the Western section of the park. As one of the rarely visited parts of the park, the game drive is very private, with only guests at the Olifantrus and Dolomite Campsites present.

Day 6, 7: Damaraland

On the sixth day of the safari, you shall exit the Etosha park through Galton Gate, taking the scenic route to the next campsite, located north of Damaraland. You will be expected there at around 1500 hrs. Although it is a remote bush camp, there are rare sightings of giraffe, Hartmann’s mountain zebra, oryx, springbok and even desert elephant and black rhino can add an exciting bonus to your stay at certain times of the year.

Day 8: Damaraland

Today you will start to head south into the heart of Damaraland where you will be staying at the campsite that belongs to Mowani. This is a scenic area, famous for the rock art.

Day 9: Damaraland

Today you will drive to Spitzkoppe, which we think is one of the most beautiful areas in Namibia, consisting of an imposing granite rock formation set in the plains. Here you can walk in the area and climb up to Bushman’s Paradise, a small basin tucked between the domes of rock, where you can view the rock paintings done by Bushman of the past and gaze at the amazing view.

Day 10, 11: Swakopmund

On the tenth day, you will drive to the coastal town of Swakopmund. With palm-lined streets, seaside promenades and fine accommodation. Also Namibia’s activity center, here you can do a range of activities from quad biking on sand dunes to scenic flights up the skeleton coast. It is also a good place to stock up on food and fuel.

Day 12: Sossusvlei

Probably the highlight of the safari is the dunes found in Sossusvlei. From dawn, you shall have a long drive South, all the way to Sossusvlei.

Day 13: Rehoboth

Your next destination is Buellsport Guest Farm situated 50 km south of Solitaire on one of the oldest farms in Namibia. There, they have their own game, cattle, and sheep and they also breed Namibian horses which you can ride in this spectacular region (by pre-arrangement; payable locally). Buellsport has a variety of short trails that you can ride. Here you will stay in an exclusive campsite a few km from the farm. Perfect for star-gazing!

Day 14: Eningu

Today you will head to Eningu Clayhouse Lodge for your final night in Africa. The lodge is stunning, peaceful and is without a doubt one of the most relaxing and tranquil lodges you will encounter on your journey. This unique guest lodge is run by the owner and so there is real attention to detail in every aspect of the running of the lodge. It is a great place to spend the last night of your trip.

Day 15: Windhoek

In conclusion of the Namibia Road Safari, you shall head back to the Windhoek airport, leaving early in the morning to ensure you make it for your flight.
