The Botswana Grand Flying Safari (7 Days) starts off at the majestic Chobe Game Lodge in the Chobe National Park. At this lodge overlooking the Chobe River, you can enjoy a variety of land and water-borne activities. Next, you stay at the authentic Savute Safari Lodge, situated on the banks of the now dry Savute channel. Savute is famous for its large concentration of elephant and large lion pride. You might be lucky to witness a dramatic lion kill. Your last stop is the romantic Camp Okavango. Exclusive and luxury come into play at this secluded camp where you will spend 2 nights. Previously only for select members of society, it’s open to you, the discerning traveler.

Itinerary

Days 1, 2: Chobe Game Lodge

Upon arrival at Kasane airport, you will be met by our safari representative who will assist you in your road transfer to Chobe Game Lodge. Enjoy 2 nights at Chobe Game Lodge in the Chobe National Park, overlooking the Chobe River, on a fully inclusive basis. Chobe Game Lodge comprises of 46 rooms and 4 suites, each room is river facing with own private terrace. Each room is air-conditioned with overhead fans, has tea and coffee making facilities, as well as a complimentary mini bar and recently renovated en-suite bathrooms.

Take pleasure in 2 full Days of morning and afternoon game activities, which include:

  • Game viewing by motorboat
  • Drives by open 4×4 safari vehicle
  • Weather permitting, stargazing at night
  • Organized walks in Lesoma Valley and Kasuma Pan. Valid between April and October
  • Guests also have a choice of going to Mowana golf course or a day trip to Victoria Falls at an extra cost
  • Sunset cruises on the Chobe River in the ‘Mosi oa Tunya’ a 32-passenger riverboat originally from Victoria Falls

Meals are served on the covered terrace and there are two bars, one of which has a champion-size billiard table. In addition, there is a lounge, a well-equipped curio shop, and a swimming pool.

Days 3, 4: Savute Safari Lodge, Chobe National Park

Today you will be transferred to Kasane airport for your charter out of the Delta to Savute Safari Lodge. Enjoy 2 nights at Savute Safari Lodge, situated on the banks of the now dry Savute channel, part of the dynamic Savute ecosystem renowned for its large concentration of Elephant and large lion prides, on a fully inclusive basis.

Savute Safari Lodge comprises of 12 twin-bedded luxury wood, thatch and glass safari suites, ideal for the hot and dry conditions. Double volume suites with their spacious interior and large, glass sliding doors set the lodge apart from typical safari accommodation. Large private viewing decks and en-suite facilities, with walk-in showers, combine to make Savute Safari Lodge an unforgettable experience.

Other facilities include a lounge, library, and cocktail bar, which is situated in the exquisite thatch and timber main building, while in front there is a viewing deck ideal for watching the game at the waterhole. The lodge houses the dining room in a separate building, which can double up as a conference room sitting up to twenty delegates. The lodge also has a swimming pool on a raised wooden teak deck overlooking the channel, affording guests to watch the game while swimming!

Partake in 2 Days of morning and afternoon game activities, which include:

  • Visit the ancient San rock paintings at Gubatsa Hills
  • Game drives by open 4×4 safari vehicles in the Savute area, including the Savute Marsh

Days 5, 6: Camp Okavango, Okavango Delta

Today you will be transferred by road to Savute’s airstrip for your charter flight to Camp Okavango, an exhilarating journey to the heart of the Okavango Delta. Enjoy 2 nights at Camp Okavango, situated on remote Nxaragha Island, assuring a year-round water wilderness experience, on a fully inclusive basis.

Camp Okavango comprises of 11 East African-style safari tents individually situated on raised teak platforms with en-suite ablution facilities and private sun decks. Each tent is exquisitely furnished with an African teak wardrobe, luggage rack, dressing table, bedside pedestals and traditional director’s chairs, his and hers towel robes, as well as tea and coffee making facilities, are also provided to make guests’ stay as comfortable as possible.

Other facilities include a dining room, which leads onto an expansive open-air patio for evenings around a blazing campfire, a cocktail bar, lounge, wildlife reference library, a secluded bird-viewing hide, shaded hammocks, reading benches and a delightful sun-deck and plunge pool for relaxation during the hot midday hours.

Enjoy 2 full Days of morning and afternoon game activities, which include:

  • Fly-fishing opportunities
  • Exploring the Okavango by canoe (mokoro) and motorboat
  • Guided nature walks on the various islands afford an opportunity to track some of the larger species that inhabit this water wilderness

Day 7: Transfer to Kasane Airport

Safari terminating in Maun: After breakfast, you will be transferred to Camp Okavango’s airstrip for your charter flight to Maun and for your onward arrangements.
